Athlete UGC portfolio: what to show brands

Build a useful athlete creator portfolio with three sample briefs, permissions and deliverable details.

An athlete UGC portfolio demonstrates content you can make for a brand to use. A sponsorship media kit usually emphasizes your audience and distribution. A portfolio emphasizes your creative work. Some campaigns buy both, so clarify whether you are creating files, publishing posts, or doing both.

Build three samples with different jobs

Label sample work honestly

If a brand did not hire you, label the asset “Independent concept — not a paid client campaign.” Do not place a brand logo under “clients” just because its product appears in your video. Avoid invented testimonials or performance results. Use products you know and claims you can support.

Make each portfolio tile answer five questions

  • Who is the intended viewer?
  • What problem does this piece address?
  • What did you personally create: script, filming, edit or all three?
  • Is this a concept or a commissioned project?
  • Which formats and deliverables could you produce for a new brief?

Prepare files a buyer can evaluate

Offer a small set of playable samples with readable captions and clear audio. Use descriptive filenames and test playback on mobile. Keep private footage, teammate images and restricted facilities out unless you have permission. An athlete’s right to their own likeness does not automatically grant rights to team marks, broadcast footage or music.

Separate creation from distribution and usage

A fee to produce one video does not by itself describe paid advertising, use of your account identity, exclusivity or unlimited reuse. Put those questions into the partnership scope checklist. Review eligibility and disclosure questions using the official-resource guide.

A useful first portfolio layout

Start with your creative focus, three samples, a brief explanation of your process and a contact route. Avoid a large “trusted by” strip without actual client relationships. Once you have a completed campaign, add a concise results report with the client’s permission.
